Summary: The U.S. Mission in Zagreb, Croatia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of HVAC Mechanic.
The work schedule for this position is:
• full time – 40 hours per week.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after the receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Position has to accomplish skilled maintenance and repair work throughout the Embassy Compound (NEC) buildings, grounds and residential owned/leased properties. Work assignments which include hardware, associated peripherals, configuration, optimization, repair of HVAC distribution, chillers, large central air handling units, packaged A/C units, cooling towers, filtration, fan coils, variable air volume (VAV) units, HVAC ductwork, evaporators, condensers, humidifiers, motorized valves, chilled water piping, circulation pumps, damper motors, controllers, actuators, HVAC water treatment systems and other control devices will be directed by the Facility Manager or the Maintenance Supervisor.

EDUCATION: Completion of 4 year secondary education (Croatian level IV) technical school with a focus on principles of refrigeration, air and water pumping systems, equipment and controls is required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 3 (three) years of journey-level experience in the installation, operations, repair, and maintenance of commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical refrigeration systems.
KNOWLEDGE: Must have a very good technical understanding of major building HVAC/mechanical systems and equipment with a specialty in controls. Knowledge of reading technical documents, interpreting maintenance plans and technical literature is required. Also must have job knowledge to include general computer literacy, and basic mathematics.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level 3 (good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (This may be tested). Level 3 (good working knowledge) speaking/Reading/Writing of Croatian language is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC systems and components and taking equipment readings with various meters. Must be able to use tools of the trade in order to install and repair building HVAC/mechanical systems and work with the controls technicians on associated devices. Must have substantial skill in comprehending engineering reports, technical drawings, specifications and related materials in English. A driver’s license (B Category) is required.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certifications.
