IT System Administrator (m/f)

Our client is a private, family-owned leader in the harbor towage sector, with operations across the Mediterranean. As they continue to expand, they’re transitioning to a more structured IT landscape, centrally managed by their parent group. They’re looking for a proactive and skilled IT System Administrator to join their team in Zagreb.

If you’re passionate about technology, excel at problem-solving, and want to play a key role in building and maintaining a robust IT infrastructure, this is your chance to make a real impact!

overseeing the management of UNIX/Linux environments, particularly Gentoo and Debian systems, with proficiency in ZFS for storage and volume management
administering and maintaining Proxmox-based virtualized infrastructure
ensuring optimal network functionality, including configuring VPNs, managing bridging, and securing firewalls using iptables
handling user authentication and permissions through LDAP
configuring and maintaining web services powered by Nginx
providing first-line technical support through an internal ticketing syste and addressing IT issues and incidents
participating in and contributing to IT enhancement initiatives across the organization
conducting training sessions for internal stakeholders to enhance system use and awareness.

a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in system administration
strong expertise in UNIX/Linux environments, particulary Gentoo, Debian, and ZFS management
experience with the Proxmox virtualization platform
strong skills in network monitoring, VPNs, bridging, iptables, and firewall setup
proficiency in usling LDAP for user authentication and management
solid experience in configuring and managing Nginx web services
fluency in English, both written and spoken
knowledge of Oracle JDE applications is a plus
familiarity with Windows Server (2016 or newer)
proficiency in SQL and database management
familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python) and server security best practices
experience with version control systems and deployment pipelines
knowledge of managing asymmetric keys for secure server access
excellent communication and teamwork skills with a strong alignment to the company's mission and values.
