The U.S. Mission in Zagreb, Croatia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Transportation and Customs Supervisor in the General Service Office.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible for the management and supervision of the Transportation and Customs section. They serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in facilitating inbound and outbound shipments and customs clearance of personal and official effects, privately owned vehicles (POV), and other property of U.S. citizen personnel and U.S. Government equipment and supplies. Manages the Transportation Lite Government Bill of Lading system, drafting and updating shipping tenders on a yearly basis, as well as the issuance of Government Bills of Lading to shipping companies. Assists vendors and diplomatic personnel in Value Added Tax (VAT) exemptions, POV registrations and GSO registrations. Responsible for all official travel arrangements and works as the primary liaison between post and the Travel Management Center (TMC). The position is under the supervision of the General Services Officer (GSO) or General Services Officer - Expanded Professional Associates Program (GSO-EPAP). Supervises one Shipment clerk and one Travel assistant.

Completion of minimum of two years of college or university studies required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the field of international customs or shipping or transportation is required.

Language:
- English: Fluent (speaking, reading, writing) - Will be tested
- Croatian: Fluent (speaking, reading, writing)

Job Knowledge:

Knowledge of transportation and shipping regulations with the European Union and worldwide. Skills and logistical knowledge of conference planning and visitor support.

Skills And Abilities:

Proficiency required in general word processing, database entry (Excel), PowerPoint, and all other Microsoft Office platforms. Ability to use collaborative platforms such as Teams and Sharepoint.

Must have a valid driver's license (category B)

Current employees who used a hiring preference to gain employment who are within their first 90 calendar days of employment are not eligible. This does not apply when the hiring mechanism is TEMP or the work schedule is intermittent or irregular.
